Quick, crunchy, garlicky. These ranch-seasoned pretzels come together in one bowl and about five minutes. Shake to coat, snack right away, or pop them in the oven for a few to make them extra crisp for later. If you love ranch flavor, this snack is for you!

Why We Love Garlic Ranch Pretzels

  • Five Minutes, One Bowl – This is a five minute or less kind of recipe, but it keeps my kid from asking for the flavored chips. I can adjust it to my family’s tastes, and am not stuck with a half-eaten bag of snacks we don’t love.
  • Sometimes Less Expensive Than Premade Snacks – In general a plain pack of pretzels can be found for less expensive than a flavored pack of pretzels or chips. Whether that means you get more pretzels per bag, or you customize the flavor to something you love, making a snack mix can certainly be frugal.
  • Clean Out The Pantry – While I’ve made this with pretzels, you can really reinvent into a snack mix with some items that may be already sitting in your pantry.

  • pretzels – I used small twists, see notes.
  • dry ranch seasoning – can use a packet, or from a jar, you could also use a homemade ranch seasoning.
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • dill – dried
  • oil – canola, olive or coconut oil, can also use melted butter

How To Make Garlic Ranch Pretzels

  1. Place pretzels in a large bowl with a lid. Sprinkle ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and dill over the pretzels.
  2. Cover the bowl and shake well until pretzels are coated. You can stir with a spatula, but I find shaking is quicker and the seasoning spreads more evenly.
  1. Pour oil over pretzels. Cover and shake well again. Be sure to gently stir, scraping the seasonings from the bottom of the bowl. Serve and enjoy! I like to let them dry a little before serving, or bake them as I mention in the notes, but they can be enjoyed right away.

How To Serve Garlic Ranch Pretzels?

These pretzels are great for game day, lunchboxes, road trips, charcuterie or snack boards. You can use them to dip in recipes like my warm spinach dip, cheesy Ro-tel dip or corn dip. Or try crushing a handful over tomato soup or salads as crunchy “croutons!”

Garlic Ranch Pretzels Variation Ideas

Add Cereal – Chex cereal or other corn or wheat puffed cereal can be mixed into this either for half the pretzels, or all of the pretzels.

Try Crackers – Saltine crackers, Ritz crackers or any butter cracker can work in this recipe. I prefer to use a mini cracker like mini saltines, oyster cracker or mini ritz crackers for a snack mix when I can.

Add Nuts – Peanuts, pistachios, or cashews would all be delicious in this snack mix. Get creative with any nuts you have in the pantry.

Sprinkle In Powdered Cheese – Parmesan or even a powder cheddar cheese can be pretty delicious added to this mix. I’ve seen powdered cheddar and white cheddar cheese powder sometimes at bulk type stores, but even popcorn cheese (affiliated) can be used.

Play With Other Seasonings – Try other seasoning blends in place of ranch. While my family likes ranch, I myself like other seasoning! Try and Italian seasoning (pizza flavor, goes great with pepperoni pizza dip!), BBQ seasoning, chili lime (try these with guacamole or pico de gallo!), and everything bagel seasoning are all chef’s kiss delicious. Any seasoning you would enjoy on chips can also transform into a seasoned pretzel snack! I would also hold off on the other spices (garlic powder, onion powder and dill) until you taste your blend first as they may not be needed with other flavors.

  • 1 ounce dry ranch seasoning about 2 tablespoons but you can add up to 3 tablespoons, see notes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill dried
  • 1/3 cup oil canola, olive or coconut oil, can also use melted butter

Instructions

  • Place pretzels in a large bowl with a lid. Sprinkle ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and dill over the pretzels.
15 ounces pretzels, 1 ounce dry ranch seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon dill
  • Cover the bowl and shake well until pretzels are coated. You can stir with a spatula, but I find shaking is quicker and the seasoning spreads more evenly.
  • Pour oil over pretzels. Cover and shake well again. Be sure to gently stir, scraping the seasonings from the bottom of the bowl. Serve and enjoy! I like to let them dry a little before serving, or bake them as I mention in the notes, but they can be enjoyed right away.
    1/3 cup oil

Notes

A 1 ounce package of dry ranch seasoning can hold anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 tablespoons of seasoning. You can always add an additional tablespoon of dry ranch seasoning if you prefer more ranch flavor. I recommend tasting before adding more.
Use 14–16 oz pretzels in any shape. Twists, sticks, snaps, or flat crackers all work; small crackers like saltines or oyster crackers are great, too.
You don’t need to bake these pretzels, but it can help extend their life if you want them to last a little longer. I have found these pretzels taste best if eaten within 1-2 days, but if I bake the pretzels at 300 for 7-12 minutes in a single layer until the pretzels get a little crispier and they are dry to the touch. This bakes the oil and makes them last a little longer but watch the time carefully so they don’t burn. We liked them both ways.
You can also bake them in a single layer in an air fryer at 300°F degree for 2-4 minutes, or until they are just dry to the touch.
