  • fresh strawberries halved, stems removed. You could use frozen strawberries but it may turn your lemonade into more of a slushie!
  • white sugar
  • water
  • lemon juice You need some for the drink, but grab a few extra lemons to garnish if you want to make it look pretty! You can also use extra strawberries as garnish.

Variation Ideas

  • Try Other Fruit! Blueberry lemonade, raspberry lemonade, watermelon lemonade and even peach lemonade are all delicious using this same method for the perfect summer drink.
  • Mix In Some Jam– You can mix jam into homemade lemonade by the spoonful instead of fresh fruit. I recommend using a good quality jam for best results for this, or a homemade jam like my raspberry jam or blackberry jam.
  • Make It Frozen– You can make this strawberry lemonade more of a slushy by blending the finished lemonade with ice before serving. You can also blend in ice cream for a fun dessert. Try using my Chick Fil A Copycat Frosted Lemonade recipe, but swapping in strawberry lemonade instead for a fun twist on classic lemonade.
  • Swap Lime Juice– You can swap lime juice for some of the fresh lemon juice. I have not tried swapping all of the lemon juice with lime juice, you may need to adjust the sweetener a little less or more to your taste.
  • Add Fresh Mint– Chop some fresh mint and add it to the drink for a supper summery drink!
  • Strain The Lemonade– If you prefer the drink not have any pulp in it, you can use a fine mesh strainer to strain the lemonade before serving.

Can I Use Less Sugar?

Yes you can decrease the sugar to taste. Sweet strawberries from during strawberry season when they are at their peak will also sometimes be sweeter, and you can use less sugar for the perfect drink.

I recommend starting with at least a cup of sugar, and then adding more as you prefer. Make sure to blend the mixture really well so the sugar fully dissolves before you taste, or you could end up with a sweeter drink than you think.

Can I Use A Sugar Substitute?

Sure, you can use a sugar substitute like Splenda, Stevia and more. You can also sweeten with agave nectar or honey to taste. Often sugar substitutes will taste sweeter than sugar, so you may need to adjust the amount of sweetener you use to your own tastes.

Start by adding a little of the sweetener and mixing until the sweetener or sugar dissolves, then tasting. You can always adjust by adding more to get the perfect balance of sweet from the sweetener and strawberries, and tart from the fresh lemons.

How Long Will Strawberry Lemonade Last?

This easy homemade strawberry lemonade recipe will last about 5-7 if stored covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

Frozen strawberries can also be used in this recipe. It can sometimes cause the lemonade to be a bit more like a slushie. If you are using frozen strawberries and prefer it not to have any slushy pieces in your lemonade, simply let the strawberries thaw on the counter for about 20 minutes before blending.

Delicious and fresh, perfect for summer parties

For one cup of lemon I always use a gallon of water. I used that measurement with this recipe and it was delicious. With just 6 cups of water it was too sweet.
