First there was the infamous Dalgona whipped coffee which took over social media like Tik tok, Instagram and Facebook by storm! Then it was Whipped Hot Chocolate that we couldn’t get enough of,

Now you MUST try this delicious fluffy strawberry temptation, Whipped Strawberry Milk. It’s creamy, full of strawberry flavor. I love strawberry any time of year and make this for a hot treat in the winter or a cold iced treat when it’s warm.

What Is Whipped Strawberry Milk?

Whipped strawberry milk is a creamy dessert drink. You add a strawberry mix to heavy whipping cream with a little sweetener, then whip the whipping cream until it’s light and fluffy. Then you add the whipped strawberry whipping cream on top of ice cold or warm milk.

You can add toppings too whether that’s slices of fresh strawberry, sprinkles, or even mini white chocolate chips.

This Whipped Strawberry Milk recipe only takes a few minutes to make, but it does feel pretty fancy. It’s another sweet dessert drink that makes you feel like you’ve just stepped out of the coffee shop. The kids will go nuts for it!

  • Strawberry Drink Mix– I used Nesquik, but any strawberry-flavored milk mix will work
  • White Hot Chocolate Mix– I cut this half and half with the strawberry mix. If you don’t have this it’s optional and you can replace it with all strawberry mix. It gives this drink more of a strawberry marshmallowy flavor.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream– Make sure this is kept really cold so it whips properly. Half and half also can not replace heavy whipping cream in this recipe
  • Powdered Sugar- I used this to sweeten the whipped strawberry milk a little more. The amount you use may vary depending on how sweet your mix is. I recommend adding the strawberry mix and/or white chocolate mix into the cream first. Then taste it before adding powdered sugar, then add powdered sugar as you prefer a little at a time. This can be helpful if you prefer a less sweet version of this drink.

How To Make Whipped Strawberry Milk

Step by step images mixing the strawberry and heavy whipping cream, whipping and toping the milk with whipped strawberry milk
  1. Mix The Strawberry and White Chocolate Mix, Cream and Powdered Sugar– In a large chilled bowl add the tablespoons of strawberry mix, and if you’re adding it the white chocolate mix. Add the cream and give it a good stir. Taste and then add the powdered sugar if you would like it a little sweeter.
  2. Whip The Strawberry Cream– With an electric hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream until it is soft and fluffy, and stiff peeks form or begin to form in the cream. This almost looks like mini mountains.
  3. Layer On Top Of Milk– You can layer the strawberry whipped milk on top of cold milk in a glass with ice, or warm milk. Put the Whipped Strawberry mixture in a piping bag with a frosting tip, or in a plastic Zip Top bag and simply snip the corner. Either allows you to squeeze a nice swirly top on your treat. Top with sprinkles or fresh strawberries.

For Best Results, Chill The Cream, Bowl And Beaters

If there is two main tips I can give you it’s get an electric mixer and make sure everything is cold to make this sweet treat.

I like to put my bowl and beaters in the freezer for about 15 minutes before I beat the cream. This ensures they are super cold and the cream whips easier and emulsifies easier. If you are able to use a stainless steel bowl or glass bowl to whip your cream, that can help keep everything cool during the whipping process.

Emulsifying is what happens as the liquid cream turns to fluffy whipped cream. We are causing the fat in the cream to both separate and suspend in the water that is part of the cream. Nifty huh?

The whole process is just easier to create when everything is cold. Check out more about how cream and other items emulsify here.

Don’t Beat The Whipped Cream Too Long. How To Know When It’s Ready.

Whipping cream usually takes about 3-5 minutes. You’ll know your cream is ready when you have a soft fluffy pink pile in the bowl that starts to resemble a mountain.

If you drag a spoon through it, there will be an indent that will keep it’s shape when ready. This stage is known as creating “soft peaks.”

It can be tempting to step away from the mixer, but watch carefully and stay close. If you beat the cream for too long it will begin to turn into a solid and create butter, ack!

While whipped strawberry butter Is probably pretty tasty on a bagel, it won’t give us the strawberry whipped milk we are trying to make.

Why The Powdered Sugar In The Whipped Strawberry When The Drink Mix Has Sugar In It?

When I shared my Whipped Hot Chocolate I had some people who wondered out loud why you would sweeten this dessert further because the mix already has sugar in it. Which is true, the strawberry mix does.

I think the trick here is that the milk we are layering the whipped strawberry on top of isn’t sweetened. The strawberry whip will begin to melt or meld with the milk as you drink. but depending on your tastes it may not be sweet enough.

If you were drinking a strawberry milk and added whipped cream, you’d expect the whipped cream would be sweetened, right? But so would the strawberry milk. In this dessert we are simply adding all the sweetener for the drink into the strawberry whipped topping and not into the milk on the bottom.

This drink kind of reminds me of Starbucks drinks, like the infamous pink drink. If you were to order a Pink Drink With Vanilla Cold Foam that would be similar in flavor but a little lighter then this whipped strawberry milk.

If you don’t want the extra sweetener? You can totally try it with just the drink mix and see how you like it by itself. Worst comes to worst you can always sweeten up the milk on the bottom a little more before you serve your treat.

Do I Have To Use An Electric Mixer?

You can whip cold heavy whipping cream without an electric mixer, but you may just feel like your arm is going to fall off. It takes a lot of arm strength to whip the cream long enough with a whisk, so I highly recommend using an electric mixer or stand mixer.

Can I Just Mix This With A Whipped Topping Like Cool Whip?

Whipped topping like Cool Whip and other variations are delicious, but they don’t tend to work very well for whipped Strawberry Milk. These types of products are usually kept frozen because it helps them to hold their structure a bit more.

The challenge is when you mix other flavors with whipped topping, while it will taste ok it will quickly lose its structure and kind of fall apart. When you try to add the whipped topping to the top of your Whipped Strawberry Milk, it then just really quickly falls apart and you lose a lot of that creaminess to the bottom of the glass.

There is the option that you can refreeze whipped topping. To do this, you’d need to mix the flavor into the whipped topping and then pipe it into big fluffy mounds on parchment paper or waxed paper. Freeze these strawberry piles of whipped topping, then you could pop them on top of a warm or cold milk.

While this could work and is a great way to prep ahead you lose a couple things. This process takes longer to make than the original. You’ll also lose some of the creaminess that you have with using regular whipped cream, it will be more like topping your milk with something that has a soft serve ice cream texture.

Whipped Strawberry Milk Variations

Full glass of whipped strawberry milk topped with strawberries ready to drink
  • Give It More Strawberry Flavor– Mix a little of the strawberry mix into the milk on the bottom. Your drink will have even more strawberry flavor. This can also be done with strawberry syrup.
  • Try All The Toppings- Get fancy with toppings! Try fresh strawberries, sprinkles, some chocolate cookie crumbs, a drizzle of strawberry or chocolate syrup, or mini white chocolate chips as a few ideas!
  • Add Vanilla– A 1/4 teaspoon of good quality vanilla will give the Whipped Strawberry Milk more of a vanilly twist!
  • Try With Freeze Dried Strawberries– Try blending freeze-dried strawberries into a powder. You can then add that strawberry powder to your whipped strawberry milk. Add powdered sugar to the mixture before whipping and taste to see if it is sweet enough for you. If the mixture isn’t sweet enough, add powdered sugar a tablespoon at a time. You can also try other freeze-dried fruit, like raspberries or peaches!

Whipped strawberry milk is such a delicious, creamy and fruity treat! A sweet fluffy pink cloud flavored with strawberry sits on an iced or warm glass of milk.

Equipment

  • Large Cold Bowl (preferably metal if you have one)
  • Electric Mixer
  • 2 Drinking Glasses
  • Strong plastic zip top bag or piping bag

Ingredients

Whipped Strawberry Milk Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Heavy Whipping Cream needs to be cold!
  • 2 tablespoons White Hot Cocoa Mix Optional- see notes
  • 2 tablespoons Strawberry Drink Powder I used Strawberry Nesquick
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Ice only needed for cold version

Instructions

To make the whipped strawberry milk topping:

  • In a large cold bowl add cold whipping cream, white hot chocolate mix, strawberry drink powder and powdered sugar. Beat on high until the mixture begins to thicken. Keep beating until the mixture has soft peaks, or you can make an indent in it that holds its shape.

To make whipped strawberry milk cold

  • Fill two glasses with ice and add ½ cup of milk to each cup.
  • Place the whipped cream into a piping bag or strong zip-top style bag. Snip the corner of the bag with scissors and pipe a swirl over the iced milk. Add sliced strawberries, mini marshmallows, sprinkles or any other of your favorite toppings and enjoy!

To make whipped strawberry milk hot (like a hot chocolate)

  • Warm the milk in the microwave until hot. (Warm works fine for kids.) Add 1/2 cup of milk to each glass.
  • Place the strawberry whipped cream into a piping bag or strong zip-top style bag. Snip the corner of the bag with scissors and pipe a swirl over the warmed milk. Add sliced strawberries, sprinkles or any other of your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Notes

  • I blended the strawberry drink mix with the white hot chocolate mix to give it more of a hot chocolate flavor. You can easily swap out all strawberry mix in place of the white chocolate mix for more of a strawberry flavor.
  • For a more decadent whipped strawberry milk, add a little extra strawberry mix to milk on the bottom also instead of using just plain milk.
  • If substituting for a dairy allergy, I recommend trying coconut milk as it is the creamiest of the milk alternatives for the bottom. Other alternative milks (almond, oat, etc.) can also be substituted for the bottom milk. For the top, try making strawberry flavored whipped coconut milk. You can learn how to make whipped coconut milk here.
  • Freeze-dried strawberries can be blended into a powder and used to replace the strawberry drink powder. This is a dairy-free option that also allows you to control the sweetness. Combine the powdered strawberries with your milk of choice then taste before whipping it into cream with a blender.
