Why We Love Peeps S’mores Dip

  • Make S’more’s For A Group – This is a fun dessert to share. It can be fun for Easter, or to just use up some leftover Peeps.
  • No Campfire Needed – Making s’mores around the campfire is fun, but I don’t always have one handy. This is a great way to enjoy s’mores without a full fire.
  • Sweet Fun – The colors on the peeps adds a little bit of fun to this dessert!
  • Make It For Other Holidays – Easter isn’t the only holiday that has peeps, try Halloween, Christmas or themed peeps for other holidays!

What To Dip Into Peeps S’mores Dip

Regular old graham crackers work great. but there are so many other options you can dip into your s’mores dip. This can be fun if you’re having a party or feeding a group.

Try different types of crunchy cookies. some ideas to try include mini graham crackers, (these bunny grahams would be fun for Easter!), butter cookies, shortbread, cinnamon graham crackers sugar wafers or animal crackers. The trick is to pick a crunchy cookie that isn’t too sweet, as the dip itself is really sweet.

If you like the combo of salty and sweet, try crunchy pretzels. I like to use the flat pretzels, the mini twists or even pretzel rods. The thin pretzel sticks tend to break in the dip too easily.

Fruit is another great option. Try apple slices, strawberries or even banana pieces to dip. Stick to bananas that don’t have much brown on them, as once they start to turn brown the bananas get mushier and harder to dip.

Can I Use Another Type Of Marshmallow?

Sure, you can easily swap out other types of large marshmallows, mini marshmallows or even other fun flavored marshmallows. The colorful mini marshmallows that are often found in the spring in the baking section can be fun. Marshmallow fluff can also be spread on top of the chocolate chips.

If you don’t have quite enough Peeps to cover the pan, you can alternate peeps with regular marshmallows.

Can I Use Another Type Of Chocolate?

You can use any chopped chocolate, not just chocolate chips. I’ve chopped up a chocolate easter bunny before and it worked out great.

You can also mix in other flavors of chocolate chips like butterscotch chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips. I usually like to mix in half of another flavor with regular semi-sweet chocolate so the dip doesn’t become too sweet. A few chopped Reese’s pieces or Rolo’s can also be delicious, don’t be afraid to be a little creative.

What Kind Of Pan Should I Use?

You can use any oven-safe dish for this recipe. I like using a glass pie plate. but other dishes work too. If you line the bottom of the dish with parchment paper, you will have an easier cleanup. Try these pans:

  • A small glass rectangular baking dish
  • A brownie pan
  • A loaf pan
  • A cast-iron oven-safe skillet

How Long Can I Leave This Peeps Dip Out On The Table?

While most dips you eventually have to worry about if they’ve been out too long, the ingredients in this dip aren’t perishable. No need to refrigerate the leftovers with this dip.

You may need to heat this dip back up again though if you leave it out for a while. Just pop it back in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until it is melty again.

  • 7 ounces graham crackers about half a box, or other crunchy plain cookies

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Pour chocolate chips into a round pie plate in an even layer. Top chocolate chips with a layer of marshmallows.
  • Place the pan in oven for 8 to 10 minutes. The chocolate will be melted and the peeps will be slightly golden. Serve with graham crackers or your favorite butter cookies.

Notes

The amounts for this recipe don’t have to be exact for the recipe to be delicious. If you don’t have enough peeps marshmallows, you can alternate every other peep with regular marshmallows.
Choose a plain graham cracker or simple cookie to dip, as this baked dessert is already sweet. I don’t recommend using a cookie like Oreos or frosted animal cracker for example, because the combination with the dip will be too sweet.
For a creamier dip, warm-up 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream for 30 seconds in the microwave. Pour cream over chocolate chips in the baking dish and mix with a whisk until the chocolate melts. Top the mixture with marshmallows and bake for 8-10 minutes until marshmallows are toasty and golden brown.
This dip can sit on a table for a long while. If it begins to become too firm to dip, pop it back in the oven for 2-3 minutes or until melty again.
