Chicken Nugget Wraps

This chicken nugget wrap is one of those easy meals I threw together once and now it’s in regular rotation. It’s simple, kid-approved, and uses stuff we almost always have hanging out in the fridge and freezer. I started making them for my kid… now I make an extra one for me too.

Why We Love Chicken Nugget Wraps
- Quick And Easy – A meal in under 15 minutes? When I’m busy, this is a quick grab and go meal I can make… or you can also teach older kids how to make.
- Easy To Customize – Feeling like more veggies, cheese, or none at all? This recipe is pretty easy to make taste exactly how you want it without much effort.
- Reliable Lunch Or Dinner – This is the kind of meal that becomes an old standby. Keep the nuggets in the freezer and use veggies you have on hand and skip takeout!
This is the type of recipe that was born out of the fact that I could not keep swinging through a drive thru for something I could easily make at home. It takes me less time to make this than to drive to the restaurant, and my kid likes it. Bonus, you can serve it warm or cold.
Ingredients For Chicken Nugget Wraps
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements and directions below in the recipe card.
- chicken nuggets – I used Just Bare Chicken Nuggets. You can also use homemade chicken nuggets like my cornflake chicken nuggets, unbreaded chicken like my air fryer chicken bites or leftover or precooked chicken like rotisserie chicken or my grilled chicken breasts.
- large tortilla – I used a burrito sized tortilla, but you can use what you have on hand
- Dijon mustard – yellow mustard can be used, but the flavor of the sauce may change a little. Dijon is a little tangier, where yellow mustard may be a little more mellow. A little apple cider vinegar (1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon) can give the sauce more tanginess.
- honey
- plain Greek yogurt or mayonnaise also works just fine
- lettuce
- Roma tomato diced – other tomato types can also be swapped
How To Make A Chicken Nugget Wrap
- Heat the chicken nuggets for 6-8 minutes at 370 degrees in the air fryer for 6-8 minutes. You can also bake them in the oven according to the package instructions
- To a small bowl add Dijon mustard, honey and plain Greek yogurt. Mix until combined.
- Place the tortilla on a cutting board. Add cooked chicken nuggets to the center of the tortilla. Drizzle the honey Dijon dressing over the chicken nuggets. Add the lettuce and the tomato to the tortilla on top of the nuggets.
- Fold the sides in on the tortilla. Scoot the filling closer to the bottom of the tortilla. From the bottom of the tortilla tightly roll up until you make a burrito shape. Slice and enjoy!
How To Pack Chicken Nugget Wraps In Lunchboxes.
These wraps can be made ahead and can be enjoyed cold, but I changed how I make them a little. First, I will cook the nuggets for an extra few minutes, so they are extra crispy to help keep their texture. Then I let the nuggets completely cool, to keep the veggies from wilting, for me that usually means making these wraps the night before.
I also will usually skip the tomatoes as the moisture from the tomatoes can make the nuggets soggier, and my kid doesn’t like it. Then I pack the sauce on the side in a little jar to keep things from getting soggy. This also makes the wrap less soggy and just taste better.
Lastly if your wraps come apart, you can wrap them in parchment paper, aluminum foil, or plastic wrap to help keep them together. It may seem obvious but be sure to teach younger kids how to unwrap the wrap to enjoy! Want more lunchbox ideas? Try my 35+ cold lunch ideas for kids and adults,
Chicken Nugget Wrap Variation Ideas
Load On The Protein – Try adding bacon slices, or a slice of ham for more of a chicken cordon blue wrap. You can also swap the nuggets for another protein like steak or leftover burger if you prefer. You can also of course use a grilled chicken whether that’s leftover grilled chicken breasts or premade chicken. I also like my air fryer chicken bites on this wrap.
Try Spicy Nuggets – I like the spicy chicken tenders, but my kid doesn’t. I can easily make spicy for me and plain nuggets for her with this meal.
Swap Out The Dressing – I’ve made a homemade honey mustard dressing, but ranch, BBQ, or even sweet chili sauce are all delicious on this wrap.
Try Salsa Instead Of Sauce– Salsa is also delicious, and you can of course crack open a jar. I like making it chunky like my pico de gallo salsa or more traditional like my blender salsa. Or get creative with fruit flavors like a peach salsa or pineapple salsa!
Try Adding Cheese – A sprinkle of shredded cheese or a slice of cheese before you add the chicken nuggets can make it your own. Cheddar works of course, but try pepper jack, provolone, or Swiss. I may have also tried it with a drizzle of leftover RO-TEL cheese dip leftover from a party instead of the sauce, yum!
Add Your Favorite Veggies – Don’t limit yourself to the lettuce and tomato, any way to get a few more veggies in is a good day! Try adding shredded carrots, shredded cabbage, diced bell pepper, corn, cucumber pieces or olives. Or throw on some sliced avocado or a dab of guacamole. I’ll use my homemade guacamole if I have it leftover, or I keep frozen individual cups of Wholly guacamole that do the trick!
Swap Out The Wrap – A plain wrap is great, but they make all kinds of wraps. Give it some color with a spinach wrap or a tomato wrap. Serve it in a low carb wrap for those who prefer or need the low carb option.
What To Serve With Chicken Nugget Wraps
If I’m making a chicken nugget wrap, I’m usually keeping everything else pretty simple serving raw vegetables like carrots, sugar snap peas, or cucumber. Fruit is another great option, apple slices, grapes, or even melon when it’s hot out. Sides like applesauce or a fruit cup also work great.
I sometimes meal prep my bean salad with chickpeas for the week, and it makes a great side for this wrap. Other cold salads like my Greek orzo salad, the Italian pasta salad, my simple pesto pasta salad, or my tomato cucumber salad make a great side.
Soup makes a great side too for a filling lunch. Try my super simple chicken noodle soup, my black bean salsa soup, or a bowl of my creamy tomato soup for soups that are fast to throw together.
How Long Will Chicken Nugget Wraps Last?
These chicken wraps can last for about 2-3 days if you store them in an airtight closed container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator.
I recommend storing the sauce separate from the wrap, so the wrap doesn’t become soggy. The extra sauce stores well in the fridge for a few days, just pop it in a small container with a lid and use it for more wraps, dipping nuggets, or veggies.
These wraps are great for meal prep, but I don’t recommend freezing them. They just don’t reheat well when you freeze them.
