Why We Love 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge

  • Simple To Make – Easy, simple, and any age kid can help. Honestly this peanut butter fudge recipe is so simple with just peanut butter and frosting, I almost didn’t believe it would work. (but it did!) This recipe is fast to make, with most of the time waiting for the fudge to set!
  • Makes Great Gifts – Slide a few pieces of fudge into a gift container for family and friends, it’s great for holiday gifts, and perfect for peanut butter lovers.
  • Budget Friendly – You don’t need tons of ingredients for this fudge, only two ingredients!

Try some of my other easy fudge recipes, you can make this fudge on a platter together with a few other flavors. Your family and friends will love hot chocolate fudge, cookie and cream fudge (made with Oreos!), and sugar cookie fudge! These recipes do use sweetened condensed milk, but are still easier to make then traditional fudge.

  • 16 ounces creamy peanut butter – I don’t recommend using natural peanut butter if it has the layer of oil you have to stir in. This layer of oil can separate in your fudge after it’s made and leave it greasy. You can use a natural peanut butter where the oil is already stirred in. You can also use crunchy peanut butter, but it will give creamy fudge a little more crunch.
  • 16 ounces cream cheese frosting – can also use a white vanilla frosting

While you can get creative with the frosting, I would skip any frosting that is colored with lots of food coloring. Mixing a brightly colored red or green holiday frosting with brown peanut butter won’t look the prettiest, even if it tastes good. See more ideas in the variation ideas section.

Peanut Butter Fudge Variation Ideas

Use A Different Nut Butter – Try almond butter, cashew butter, a flavored peanut butter or even Nutella for a chocolate version. I haven’t tried crunchy peanut butter, but it will be delicious and still have that peanut butter flavor.

Add Decorations – Sprinkles, chopped nuts, colorful candies like M&Ms or Reese’s pieces, any of these toppings can make this recipe feel extra fun and festive. You can also drizzle chocolate over top to make it feel more like a peanut butter cup.

Experiment With Different Frosting Flavors – Try chocolate frosting, vanilla frosting, or any other flavors of frosting that sounds like it would go well with peanut butter! Chocolate peanut butter fudge is pretty delicious.

I’m not sure how a strawberry frosting would turn out. While I bet it would taste like a peanut butter and jelly fudge, the color may not be the prettiest for this combo. If you try strawberry let me know how it goes in the comments!

I would skip any frosting that is colored though, as mixing a brightly colored red or green frosting with peanut butter won’t look the prettiest even if it tastes good.

How Long Will This Easy Peanut Butter Fudge Last?

Expect this peanut butter fudge will last easily for two weeks. Store fudge in an airtight container with a lid in the refrigerator.

Can I Freeze This Fudge?

This fudge also freezes beautifully when stored in a freezer safe container or freezer zip top bag. I recommend freezing the fudge after slicing it, and placing it on a cookie sheet to freeze. Once frozen, take the fudge off the cookie sheet and place in the freezer safe container or bag with layers of parchment paper or wax paper in between the layers in the container.

Equipment

  • 1 8 x 8 inch pan
  • 1 Aluminum foil
  • 1 spray cooking oil
  • 1 Silicone spatula can also use a whisk
  • 1 Medium sized bowl – microwave safe
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 large sharp knife

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces creamy peanut butter
  • 16 ounces cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  • Line an 8 x 8 inch pan with aluminum foil. Spray with cooking oil. See notes.
  • Scoop frosting into a medium sized microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Add peanut butter to the frosting and stir until mixed. Microwave the mixture at 15 second intervals, stirring between until smooth.
  • Pour the smooth fudge mixture into the lined pan and spread evenly. Refrigerate 1-2 hours or until set. You can also leave it in the fridge overnight.
  • Remove the fudge from the pan by lifting it up by the foil. Cut evenly into 16 servings and enjoy!

Notes

You can also line the pan with parchment paper. This fudge is fairly sticky until it sets, so I recommend still spraying parchment paper lightly with cooking spray.
16 ounces is about 2 cups. If you are measuring your ingredients in measuring cups, spray the cup lightly with cooking oil before scooping in the frosting or peanut butter. This helps any sticky ingredients release from the cup much easier.
If you are decorating the top with any sprinkles or other toppings, I recommend adding them right after you pour the fudge mixture into the pan before it sets.
