- orange candy melts
- pretzel sticks
- Watermelon Airheads for leaves, a green frosting or green candy melts can also be used
How To Make Pumpkin Oreo Balls
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place cookies in food processor and mix until cookies turn into fine crumbs. See notes at the bottom of the page if you don’t have a food processor.
- Place the Oreo cookies in a large bowl. Add the cream cheese and mix together with a silicone spatula until well mixed. Do not mix the mixture in the food processor as the cream cheese mixture can become too liquidy.
- Roll the dough into one tablespoon balls. Using a small cookie scoop can help to make them even in size. Place truffles onto the prepared baking sheet, and freeze in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
- Use a toothpick to create indentations into the truffles to make a pumpkin shape. Place the pan of truffles in the freezer for another 10 minutes.
- Use clean kitchen scissors to cut small leaves from the Airhead candies.
- In a heatproof bowl melt, the orange candy melts at half power in the microwave, stirring about every minute until a smooth orange chocolate sauce forms. The package will also have melting directions.
- Remove the truffles from the freezer. Place the truffle balls into orange candy melt chocolate one at a time to coat, using a fork so excess chocolate can drip off. Place each truffle on parchment paper so they are not touching each other.
- Press half of a pretzel stick into the top center of each truffle to create a pumpkin “stem.” Press a leaf into the top of each stem. If the leaf isn’t sticking, use a toothpick and a little melted chocolate to help stick the leaf onto the pumpkin.
- Return the pumpkins to the refrigerator for at least another 15 minutes to finish setting. Then serve when ready and enjoy!
Can I Make These Pumpkin Oreo Balls Into Jack O’Lanterns?
You totally can make these pumpkin Oreo balls into Jack O’Lanterns! I recommend either using black melting wafers to melting down a dark chocolate like we did the orange candy melts. Then put the melted chocolate in a strong zip-top bag. Ypu can then snip the tiniest piece off the corner of the bag and use the melted chocolate to draw faces on the pumpkins.
You could also use a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate over and over again to draw.
How Long Will Oreo Balls Last?
Expect these pumpkin Oreo balls to last about 5-6 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. These Oreo balls must be stored in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese.
Normally Oreo balls can be frozen just fine, but the pretzels in these pumpkin Oreo balls don’t freeze quite as well and will get soggy when defrosted. If you make the Oreo balls with something else for the stem, like a tiny piece of chocolate, then they would freeze a little easier.

Notes
- Making Cookie Crumbs Without a Food Processor
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can place the cookies in a gallon size strong zip-top bag. Use a rolling pin or even a full canned good to crush the cookies into crumbs inside the bag.
- After the cookies have become crumbs, you can mix in the rest of the ingredients with the cookie crumbs with an electric mixer. If you don’t have an electric mixer you can mix them together by hand but it may take a little longer and the cream cheese needs to be well softened.
