Ingredients For Jell-O Fish Tank Cups
- 6 ounces blue gelatin I used berry blue Jell-O but any blue version works. Store brand works just fine also.
- 1 ½ cup Nerds candy you need about 13 ounces of candy
- 12 pieces gummy fish candy I used Swedish fish
You will also need clear cups. You can find 9 ounce clear cups here, which is what I used.
How To Make Jell-O Fish Tank Cups
- Prepare gelatin according to package instructions in a large bowl, then chill in the refrigerator for an hour and a half.
- When the blue Jell-O is almost set, stir it well with a spoon or spatula. This will break up the gelatin and creates a “bubbles in the water” look. Return to the refrigerator to chill until fully set, about thirty minutes.
- Divide the Nerds candy evenly between the six cups. Add the blue Jell-O evenly to each cup.
- Place one Swedish fish down into the center of each cup to look like the fish is swimming. Put another fish on the top of the Jell-O if desired.
- Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve, enjoy!
Variation Ideas
- Use Other Ocean Themed Gummies– Sharks, other colors of fish, lobsters, you can find all kinds of fun ocean shaped gummies to add to your treat.
- Make The Gelatin Lighter Blue– Try using a light shade of Jell-O and adding blue food coloring until you get your desired blue or aqua color.
- Make It Pudding– You could use a vanilla pudding in place of gelatin, and make it blue with blue food coloring. Then place the candy fish near the edge of the container so you can still see them as the pudding is not see through.
- Try Mason Jars– You can skip the plastic cups and use clear small mason jars or other
How Long Will Mini Fish Tank Jell-O Cups Last?
These fun dessert cups can be assembled the night before. You can make the blue gelatin can be made ahead and will last for about seven days. I recommend not assembling the candies with gelatin more than twenty-four hours in advance as the candies can start to change texture.
