Easy Clementine Halloween Smoothie Recipe

We love sweet clementines in our house. They are great for snacks or lunchboxes all on their own.

What to Do With Leftover Clementines?

Sometimes when we buy clementines in a big bag, we end up wondering what to do with leftover clementines. I’ve made clementine muffins that were pretty darn delicious. I also had a few extra clementines hanging around when I sent in this fun Christmas Santa And Elf snack to school. But this time around I blended the rest of them into this fun smoothie.

Boy was this smoothie idea delicious! Creamy and sweet, this clementine smoothie recipe reminds me a lot of a creamsicle.

This recipe made a great after school snack that I shared with the kid. It would also be fun for breakfast. It’s a great immune booster smoothie because it is packed with vitamin C.

The smoothie color comes out a rich deep orange color that looks just like a pumpkin, but it doesn’t have to be Halloween to make this sunshine colores smoothie.

How To Make A Halloween Pumpkin Glass

I used two different styles of pumpkin glasses for this Halloween juice. The first was a fun Halloween milk bottle style straw cup that I had found at target, but I only had one of those.

When my kid saw my cup was without a pumpkin, she wouldn’t let it slide. “Mom, you need a Halloween smoothie too!” She’s sweet, and we figured out a plan together.

So on the glass I made a pumpkin on a regular ol’ glass using a grease pen I had to draw like this.

Drawing a jack-o-lantern face on a clear glass with a wax pen.

The grease pen washes right off of both glass and plastic, but make sure you test a small area before.

Grease pen can be removed after you are done with a cleaner that has a degreasing piece to it. I’ve used dishsoap (this is my favorite) or even my favorite spray all-purpose cleaner. (I love the french lavender, but also the honey crisp apple!)

In a pinch on something stubborn I’ve used nail polish remover. If you use nail polish remover on a food surface, make sure to clean it again well with soap and warm water before you serve on it!

If you were using a plastic disposable cup, you could also draw it on with a permanent marker.

What Else Can I Add To This Smoothie For Kids? (Or Adults too!)

While I gave this to my kid afterschool, this smoothie can make a powerful nutrition punch at breakfast too. A smoothie is a great way to fill your kid up with some good nutrients so they are fuller before they start diving into candy on Halloween.

  • Yogurt can be substituted for almond milk in this smoothie if desired, but you may need to add a little water to thin it out.
  • Other types of oranges can be used. Clementines tend to be one of the sweetest types of citrus so extra sweetness may need to be added. I recommend fresh mandarins.
  • A teaspoon of chia seeds packs a nutrition punch in smoothies and makes them more filling.
  • Frozen bananas are always one of my favorite additions to a smoothie, as they add extra creaminess. You may need to add a little more almond milk or water to keep the smoothie drinkable.
  • Add a little mango for a tropical twist.
  • You’re welcome to experiment with other berries, but the color may change on your bright orange smoothie.

This fast and easy clemetine smoothie is loved by both kids and adults alike. Made spooky for Halloween, this snack for kids is a great addition to a Halloween party or before the kids head out for trick or treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups orange slices 4 clementines
  • 1/2 cup strawberries 4-6 strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk

Instructions

  • Peel oranges or clementines into segments and remove any seeds. Remove any large pieces of the white pith with your fingers as it can cause bitterness.
  • Slice tops off of strawberries then slice into even pieces.
  • Add the clementines, strawberries, honey, ice. and almond milk to a blender. Blend until creamy.
  • Taste! If more sweetness is needed add a little more honey until desired sweetness is achieved, then enjoy.

Notes

Substitute plain almond milk and half a teaspoon of vanilla for vanilla almond milk.
For a pulp free smoothie, strain through a sieve after blending. There will still be small bits up pulp from the clementines in the smoothie after blending. If you prefer a pulp-free smoothie a quick strain does the trick.
