- Grands cinnamon rolls or other similar refrigerated pre-made cinnamon roll dough
- frozen peaches defrosted, see notes further down the article of how to defrost peaches
- brown sugar
- cornstarch
- cinnamon
Optional Extra Vanilla Icing
- powdered sugar
- milk
- vanilla extract
While you can just use the frosting from the cinnamon roll tube, I always find the dish needs a little more frosting. I’ve included an optional frosting you can add if you like a lot of frosting also. When I’ve served this dish as a dessert with a scoop of ice cream, I feel like I can sometimes get away without making extra frosting.
How To Make Cinnamon Roll Peach Cobbler
For The Cobbler
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 casserole pan with nonstick cooking spray or line with parchment paper, then set to the side.
- In a large bowl add peaches, sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Mix the peach mixture well, then pour into the prepared 9×13 pan.
- Cut each of the raw refrigerated cinnamon rolls into about six pieces. We want small pieces so they cover the entire top of the pan.
- Evenly spread the cinnamon roll pieces on top of the peach filling in the prepared baking dish. Set the cinnamon roll icing from the tube to the side.
- Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20-22 minutes, until golden brown and the cinnamon rolls are no longer doughy.
- Drizzle icing from the cinnamon roll tube over the peach cinnamon roll cobbler. You can just use the icing from the cinnamon roll tube, but I find my family prefers a little extra icing. If you prefer extra icing, continue with the optional instructions.
For Optional Extra Icing
- To make (optional) extra icing, add powdered sugar, milk and vanilla to a medium bowl. Mix until smooth. Add milk ½ teaspoon at a time to thin the mixture if needed. The frosting should pour and drizzle easily. Spread or drizzle on top of the cobbler as desired, then enjoy!
Variation Ideas
Use An 8 Count Of Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls– You can use the 8 count size of refrigerated cinnamon rolls. You’ll cut each roll into about four pieces instead of 6.
Try Other Flavors Of Cinnamon Rolls – They sometimes have other flavors of cinnamon rolls in the case. Orange rolls will work with this recipe, and don’t be afraid to try other limited-edition flavors if they seem like they would go with peach.
Add Raisins– This may just be my family, but they really like raisins sprinkled over the cobbler. The raisins soak up some of that cinnamon sugar flavor and go nicely with the peaches.
Try Chopped Nuts– Chopped nuts can be added on top of this cobbler. I like pecans or walnuts the best.
Top With Vanilla Ice Cream – Try placing a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a swirl of whipped cream on top of the filling. The combination of the sliced peaches, cinnamon filling and the pre-made cinnamon rolls takes traditional peach cobbler to the next level!
How Long Will Cinnamon Roll Peach Cobbler Last?
Expect this cinnamon roll peach cobbler will last about 4-5 days if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can also wrap the top of the casserole pan in plastic wrap before placing in the refrigerator.
I find it is best if served warm, so I always heat up the cobbler when serving leftovers. It pairs great with this slow cooker cheesy hashbrown casserole.
FAQ About Using Fresh Peaches, Canned Peaches and Frozen Peaches
Yes, canned peaches can easily be swapped into this recipe. Please drain any juice from the canned peached before adding them to the recipe.
Yes you can use fresh peaches in this recipe. You will need between 14-20 peaches to swap for the frozen peaches. With fresh peaches you will need to remove the pit and slice the peaches. I also recommend removing the peach skin for this recipe. You can see how to remove the peach skin easily here.
The faster way to defrost peaches is to use the defrost setting on the microwave or use a 50 percent power setting. Usually the peaches will be thawed in about 3-5 minutes, but it can take slightly longer if they are frozen as a solid block of ice.
You can also place the bag of frozen peaches and run it under cool water to defrost them in about an hour and a half to two hours.
Frozen peaches can also be thawed in the refrigerator for about 6-8 hours or overnight. This method will allow the fruit to be the most firm of the three methods and less mushy. While some recipes keeping the fruit from being mushy is important, since we are cooking the peaches in a cobbler the baking process will cause the peaches to be a but mushy as they cook anyways. So defrosting peaches slowly isn’t as important for this recipe.
