White pizza has creamy ricotta, gooey mozzarella and tasty Italian herbs and garlic for a pizza without red sauce that is simply delicious!
Ingredients
1pizza dough12 to 16 ounces, storebought tap to use my homemade pizza dough recipe
1/4cupcornmealoptional
¼cupall purpose flour- for rolling the dough
1/2cupricotta cheesewhole
2tablespoonsgrated parmesan cheese
2clovesgarlicfinely minced
1/2teaspoondried oregano
¼teaspoondried basil
½teaspoonsalt
¼teaspoonpepper
2tablespoonsolive oil
1cupshredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Make the pizza dough with my pizza dough recipe, or if using storebought dough allow the pizza dough to sit on the counter uncovered for at least thirty minutes so it stretches easier.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Add ¼ cup of cornmeal to a baking sheet with a rim and spread it out over the pan.
Gently stretch the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Add a sprinkle of flour as you stretch the dough if the dough becomes sticky. Add flour to the rolling pin and roll the pizza dough until it is at least twelve inches across, then move to the prepared pan with cornmeal. Curl the edge of the dough in just a little to give the pizza a thicker crust and a round shape.
In a small bowl add ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
With a silicone brush, add two tablespoons of olive oil to the pizza dough and spread evenly all over the dough. Sprinkle the garlic evenly over the oil.
Dollop the ricotta mixture around the pizza dough. Spread the ricotta evenly over the pizza crust with the back of a spoon.
Top the pizza with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Then enjoy!
Notes
Sometimes I'll add a little fresh basil or parsley as a garnish before serving. Cracked red pepper is also especially delicious on this pizza, but can be added at the table by each person.
