Notes
We used whole milk in this recipe to produce a rich and creamy hot chocolate. 2% also works great, though skim milk starts to be a lot less creamy. You can use nondairy milk in this recipe. I recommend using oat milk for the creamiest nondairy blend but use your favorite. If you are making this drink nondairy, you can use nondairy chocolate chips. Oreo cookies are technically nondairy, but if the person you are serving has an allergy or intolerance always check with them first as to what they are able to eat and enjoy. You can crush the Oreo cookies with a food processor. Alternatively, you can put the cookies in a strong freezer-style zip-top bag. Gently with a rolling pin or heavy metal canned good, crush the cookies in the bag until they are crumbs. I like to crush a few extra cookies and add them on top of the drink at the end as a pretty garnish.
