Notes
A lot of companies will make smoked chicken sausages or other types of smoked sausage that are 12 or 14 ounces. This recipe doesn't have to be exact, it's ok if you grab two packs and it's 24 ounces of meat. You'll want to consider how many people you are feeding carefully. I have easily doubled this recipe in my 6 quart slow cooker without issues, but it does take a little longer to warm up.If you are pinched for time you can heat the sausage and all the other ingredients all the way through, then just add it to the slow cooker to keep it warm at the party. I strongly recommend beginning to heat the slow cooker while you are heating the sausage on the stove to keep the sausage warm enough when you add it to the slow cooker.
