Cheddar bay sausage balls are loaded with cheesy, garlicky flavor and savory sausage. Just four ingredients and 30 minutes for the easiest crowd-pleasing appetizer.
Ingredients
1poundsausageuncooked, without casings
4ouncescream cheesesoftened and sliced into pieces
11.36ouncesRed Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix
1cupscheddar cheeseshredded
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line two baking sheets with aluminum foil and spray lightly with spray cooking oil.
In a large mixing bowl add the sausage, cream cheese and cheddar bay biscuit mix. Mix with an electric mixer until just combined and it looks like a meatball dough. including the seasoning packet. (The seasoning packet sometimes gets stuck in the box, so look for it!)
1 pound sausage, 4 ounces cream cheese, 11.36 ounces Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix
Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the sausage mixture. Mix with an electric mixer until just combined.
1 cups cheddar cheese
Portion the sausage mixture into 1 1/2 tablespoon balls. I like to use a cookie scoop to make scooping go quicker, and then just give each one a quick roll.
Bake 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. Flipping the sausage balls once halfway through can make them brown a little more evenly. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes
A few times, I have forgotten to add the seasoning packet to the mix. If this happens to you, it's ok don't freak out! You can still get that great flavor.Instead melt two tablespoons of butter and mix in the seasoning packet, then with a silicone brush you can brush the melted butter on the tops. You can brush this seasoned butter over the tops before the sausage balls bake, or right as they come out of the oven.Either way they will be delicious, I just found when testing it didn't change the taste much to add the extra butter, and I thought it was easier to add the seasoning to the mix. But if you forgot the seasoning, the butter version works great.
