Ingredients
½cupsweetened condensed milk
1teaspoonpeppermint extract
3cupspowdered sugar
1cupdark chocolate chips
3teaspoonsvegetable oil
holiday sprinklesoptional
Instructions
In a large bowl add condensed milk, peppermint, and powdered sugar. With an electric mixer blend well until a thick dough forms.
Line two baking pans with parchment paper or wax paper. Sprinkle a light layer of powdered sugar onto a large, clean and flat surface like a cutting board or the counter.
Place the peppermint dough on top of the powdered sugar. With a rolling pin roll the dough until it is ¼ inch thick.
Using a small round cookie cutter that is 1 inch across, cut out the peppermint patties. Place the peppermint patties on the cookie sheet closely together but not touching. Reroll and repeat slicing the peppermint candies you have cut all the dough.
Place the pans of peppermint patties into the refridgerator and chill them for 45 minutes.
Once the peppermint patties have finished chilling, place the chocolate chips and oil in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Remove the peppermint candies from the refrigerator. Use a fork to dip each peppermint candy in chocolate.
Place each peppermint candy back on the cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. Sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.
Place the peppermint candies back in the refridgerator for at least 30 minutes to set, then enjoy.
Notes
Sometimes there is a little extra chocolate that extends past the peppermint candy after the candies have been dipped. Simply break away any excess chocolate with your fingers once set if you prefer to remove it.
